My Life Revolves Around Art: MOMA

// July 18th, 2011 // No Comments » // blog

My first visit to the MOMA.

After seeing images of Andy Warhol’s “Rorschach” painting on the cover Jay-Z’s book “Decoded”, I never knew the original was so large.

“Talk to me” designed wallpaper.

Talk To Me, exhibit is on it’s way to the MOMA.

Dinner time!

Looks like art- right?!

This is definitely a piece of art! Now, where can I find these plates?

// March 9th, 2011 // 2 Comments » // blog

My first time having my art silk-screened on t-shirts. This shirt was produced over 7 years ago and it brings back many memories. Today makes 14 years of the legendary lyricist death. Notorious Big aka Biggie Smalls aka Frank White will always be remember.

“Either you slangin’ crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot!” – Biggie

If you’re not familiar with Biggie Smalls you can read his bio here.

Artwork You’ve Seen From An Artist You Didn’t Know: Norman Rockwell

// March 3rd, 2011 // No Comments » // blog

The painting above is titled “Tattoo Artist”, by Norman Rockwell. This piece was created for “The Saturday Evening Post” in 1944. Rockwell took a photo from behind of two gentlemen and incorporated different elements to complete the composition. This is only a brief description of what an artist goes through to creating a masterpiece.

How Art Rules The World – Andy Warhol’s “Rorschach” Painting Is The Cover Of Jay-Z’s First Book

// November 15th, 2010 // No Comments » // blog

Jay-Z’s first book will feature one of Andy Warhol’s Rorschach paintings on its cover. Warhol’s 1984 series of 38 Rorschach paintings was a later-in-life experiment that, to hear him describe it, doesn’t sound too far off from this book. Jay-Z’s book Decoded is a collection of lyrics, hip-hop lyrics — not just Jay-Z’s lyrics, but those of every great MC — are poetry if you look at them closely enough.

In no way, shape or form am I promoting his book, this post is to promote/ bring attention to art in general. Painted in 1984, Warhol created the series specifically so that the paintings could be analyzed. “I was trying to do these to actually read into them and write about them, but I never really had the time to do that. So I was going to hire somebody to read into them, to pretend it was me, so that they’d be a little more . . . interesting.”

These paintings are enormous in size, 9′ tall ink blots – Genius?!

Listen to the interview of Jay-Z speak about it

Banksy X The Simpsons Opening

// October 22nd, 2010 // No Comments » // blog

Take a look at United Kingdom’s favorite artist vandal, Banksy. Banksy storyboards and directs the opening sequence to the Simpsons. In classic Bansky fashion, he illustrates a dark, and creepy vision of the world. In this clip Banksy takes the viewer behind the scenes of the process of animation, marketing, and promotion of an animated series like The Simpsons. This is where graffiti is headed. Just think 20th Century Fox and The Simpsons hired an art whose work sells for millions and is frowned upon. Us as artists has a lot to look forward too. Just waiting for our chance to make something great!
